I am now 60 years old and just starting to reach what others have always
considered to be my potential.  When I was a child teachers and parents were
always telling me to study hard and I could be a great writer or to draw more
and keep practicing and I could become a "real" artist.  They kept saying do
these things and you will be somebody.  Being a child and somewhat defiant I
would think to myself I am already "Somebobbie".

This occasionally led to problems for a child of my sort.  I began to think of
myself as Somebobbie.  Once as a child I broke a precious keepsake of my
mothers.  Not wanting to fully confess I did want her to know that her prize
was ruined.  Was it a psychological slip of the pencil that caused me to write:
"Dear Mom, Don't know how it happened but Somebobbie broke your ....?"

Born in Roxboro, North Carolina September 13, 1946 I was blessed to be
part of a Navy family.  We traveled the world and before I graduated from high
school I had lived not only in the United States but had been a resident for
varied times in Africa and Europe.  My travels continued as an adult and the
world opened to me calling me from Alaska to Africa from Iceland to Mexico
my feet touched their soil and their peoples touched my soul.

I began to see things that others not so blessed rarely get to glimpse.  I
noticed that all people had the same basic drive for shelter, food, safety and
love.  I saw that when people were deprived of any of those basic needs they
were willing to go to any length to acquire them.  The world seemed harsh to me
at times as I was raised among men who had fought in WWII and Korea.  I saw
first hand the results of survival of those difficult times.  I tried many avenues
for finding a peaceful arena for my survival and after a time to sought what I
would eventually call "The Garden of God's Heart."

This place of peace is where my mind would go when I was confronted with too
much reality in my life.  A place where harmony of mind, body and spirit was so
sweet one could hear the whispered affirmations from a heavenly Father who
blessed me as His child.  A place where birds and angels sang and the wind
sound was like the harp of an angel dancing its breeze like a tune.

I believe my first glimpse of this place was learned on my Grandmother's lap.
When we were very small Mama as we called her would hold us on her lap and
sing that old hymn.  I can still hear her voice when I close my eyes, "I come to the
garden alone while the dew is still on the roses, and the voice I hear while I tarry
there the son of God discloses and He walks with me and He talks with me and
He tells me I am His own and the joy we share as we tarry there none other has
ever known."  Tucked safe in her arms little eyes would soon close and
dreamland was sure to follow.

If you were a child who was loved thus then you already know this peace cherish
it always.  If not please wander "In the Garden of God's Heart" with me and
share the peace this place of wonder has blessed me with through all the years
of my life.

About my work the entire Garden of God’s Heart Collection was done on
acid free black paper with gel pens.  It was a new medium and I was
experimenting.    I believe I achieved a modicum of success.  However, when I
scanned them to put them on the site they lost the intense color that I was
enchanted with.  I retouched them using a program called Photo Impressions
probably the very earliest version.

The Inner Light Collection is a mixture of media.  Some were done in water
color pencil scanned and digitally enhanced using multiple programs, (Corel
Paint Shop Pro 10, Corel Painter Essentials 3,  Photo Impressions 5,
Windows Get Color, Paint and JASC Paint Shop Pro 9 in conjunction with
my electronic tablet and hyper pen.  A very exciting collection to produce and
an exhausting one as it is the largest body of work I have created in one year’s
time.

I try to produce a collection annually but sometimes it takes two years to
complete my work and extinguish my interest in an area.  I hope you have
enjoyed what you have seen on the site.  If you would like more information feel
free to contact me.
How I work.
